- Hace un añoCan you please install aida64 and tell us all what drive model is inside this external hdd? This is the question that everyone wants to know! thank you
- Hace 11 meses@Arnel Enero no,but the thing they do is not right,as they put old hdd's insinde and you can buy toshiba, but no toshiba inside,or seagate with samsung inside,or other brand who use western,or seagate,or toshiba! The speed you'll end up with is the speed of the hdd,and a speed of a 3 years old hdd is not like a new one. I've ended up buying seagate firecuda 2tb and hdd enclosure, and if I copy a 13gb file it doesnt go under 130mb for sec at the end of file transfer, but it stays like 150-170mb/s an I had no external hdd till now with these performances.my last external hdd was seagate my passport slim with a samsung drive inside with no more than 115mb/s for a few sec each time, in real life!
- Hace 11 mesesSorry i mean why does everybody want to know it. Is there an issue regarding drive model inside it?

- Hace un añoMy IMAC has a 2.0 USB port. Am I going to need some kind of adapter for it to work on my IMAC
- Hace un añoIt should be backwards compatible with USB 2.0. It actually needs an adapter if you’re computer is newer with a USB-C port.
- Hace un añoI have a Mac but I bought the my passport wd but does not say for Mac. Should I return this one and get the one that says for Mac? I mean I do want to have that ability to share to a pc in case I need to
- Hace 11 meses@jalabi99 so I can use this one for the ps4 as well
- Hace 11 mesesFormatting it with 'exFAT' file system will make it work for both Mac and PC. There are ESreporter videos showing how to do this.
- Hace un añoI did end up calling the manufacture the same day and guided me how to format it correctly. Thank you guys!
- Hace un año+Jabelemaximus no, you don't have to buy a WD 'My Passport for Mac' hard drive. Any Western Digital drive can be reformatted to work with a Macintosh computer. The only difference between a 'My Passport for Mac' hard drive and a 'My Passport for PC' hard drive is that they have software utilities on it that only work on a Macintosh computer. But when you reformat a hard drive on a Mac it will wipe that information off the drive anyway. Save a few dollars and get a 'My Passport for PC' hard dive, and then just reformat it. *Important* Reformatting a drive will wipe away all data on it, so be sure you are selecting the correct drive before you reformat it.
- Hace un año1807retthom is it would be deleting our last data that already in that wd passport?
- Hace un añoI just bought a WD 1T for my 21.5 iMac to put all new data for 2018. (I have a Omega for all data prior to 2018). My question is do I leave the WD plugged in all the time and on? TM will backup as stated. Or should I eject and backup myself once a week? (Opening up TM and WD hard drive) All videos I have watching nerve says about leaving all on all the time. Thanks. Linda
- Hace un año+birdie2107 You can do either. A lot of people like the convenience of always keeping the drive plugged into their computer so that they don't have to remember to manually start the Time Machine backup process. Other people like to store the drive that has the Time Machine backup in a different location like at a friend's house in case something happens to the computer at home. This means that every week (or however often one does a TM backup) they go to their friend's house, pick up the drive, go home, do the TM backup, then return the drive to their friend's house. An external hard drive will generally go into 'sleep' mode until it is being used, so the power draw on the computer or from the electricity socket is very small. So do whichever you feel most comfortable doing, but be sure to make regular Time Machine backups.
- Hace un añocan you please tell me what is the rpm on this drive
- Hace un añoI believe it is 5,400 RPM, but I am not certain
- Hace un añoCan you rename this drive without having to reformat it? I know that if I go to disk utility I can select erase, then rename it there, but I don't want to erase all my files. When in finder, I can control click my drive and it gives me an option to rename it. Does this work? I was gonna try it but I didn't know if it would mess up my drive.
